We all met for dinner at this restaurant. It served local dishes. Joining us for dinner was Mr. Perry a public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Consulate General in Almaty, Kazakhstan. We had met with him earlier today and he was telling us about his job.
The Public Affairs Section works to build mutual understanding between the peoples of Kazakhstan and the United States. They do that through cultural programs, educational and professional exchanges, media outreach, English-language training, and many other avenues.

Horse meat dish
Someone at the table got this and I tried a small piece. The piece of horse meat I had was a little fatty and definitely had a different taste--not bad just different. It reminded me of eating liver, but not as strong. It also had the texture of a pot roast.
