Current Events Unit
Rationale for this unit-My students need to expand their world outside of their county and state. They need to know what is going on in the world around them. I want them to understand that studying current events helps them understand the importance of people, events, and issues in the news around the world. Students will pick a global issue at the beginning of the year and track that issue with all the individual assignments. The main focus in my English class is reading, writing, text structure, and technology. One of our school's cornerstones is technology, and I am preparing my students for a state reading and writing test. My focus for this unit is that my students investigate the world, recognize perspectives, and communicate ideas.
